How we sort, photograph, and describe what we sell

Everything on this site has been through our shop in Austin, Texas. We photograph in daylight, describe what's right and what's wrong, and answer condition questions before you buy — not after. If a part is cracked, dented, helicoiled, or freshened up with bondo by a previous owner, the listing says so. If we don't know something, we say "we don't know" rather than guess.

• VIN / serial numbers listed when present; we run NICB reports on titled engines on request.
• Condition language is calibrated against the photos, not the opposite.

Buying a vintage engine

What to look for on a complete motor

Whole engines listed here come from running bikes, project bikes, and estate buyouts. The listing will tell you which. Things we check and describe: matching case numbers (when present), evidence of prior teardowns, condition of the cases for cracks (especially behind the lifter blocks on Shovels), heads for fin damage and helicoils, oil pump condition, and whether the motor kicks/turns over by hand. VIN reports are run on titled motors — message us for the NICB if you want it.
